“Rain and Tears” is a song by the Greek band Aphrodite’s Child. The song was included on the band’s 1968 debut studio album End of the World, and was released as a single in July 1968 on Mercury Records. It became a major hit across Europe, reaching number one in France, number two in several other countries, and entering the top 30 in the United Kingdom and West Germany.
The song reached no. 2 in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Norway. In Belgium it reached no. 1 in Wallonia and no. 7 in Flanders.

Aphrodite’s Child a fost un grup de rock progresiv din Grecia, format in 1967 din Vangelis Papathanassiou (keyboards, flutes), Demis Roussos (bass, acoustic and electric guitar, vocals), Loukas Sideras (drums and vocals), si Silver Koulouris (guitar).
Albumul lor cel mai important a fost “666” care s-a vandut in peste 20 milioane de exemplare, in 1971-72. In ciuda acestui success european, grupul s-a destramat in 1972.
Vangelis si Demis Roussos au continuat sa aibe cariere de mare success ca artisti solo: Roussos ca si solist pop, iar Vangelis a devenit unul dintre artistii renumiti in muzica electronica, a compus muzica de filme, primind si un Oscar pentru “Chariots of Fire”.
Marile hit-uri din anii ’80 ale lui Demis au fost Forever and Ever”, “My Friend the Wind”, “My Reason”, “Velvet Mornings”, “Goodbye My Love, Goodbye”, “Someday Somewhere” si “Lovely Lady of Arcadia”.
