The song was written especially for Cher by Diane Warren, who produced it with Guy Roche. This was written by Diane Warren, who has also written songs for Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand, Tina Turner and Whitney Houston.
Heart Of Stone was Cher’s first multimillion seller, with sales topping 3 million in the US. It was certified gold in September 1989, platinum in November, and in July 1990, went double platinum.
The “If I Could Turn Back Time” music video was filmed on board the USS Missouri while it was stationed at the former Long Beach Naval Shipyard at Pier D along with the crew.
