Confederate Railroad a fost formata in 1987 de Danny Shirley, Michael Lamb, Gates Nichols, Chris McDaniel, Wayne Secrest, si Mark Dufresne. Au inceput sa cante prin barurile din Atlanta si imprejurimi. in timp au devenit formatia de bacjup pentru David Allan Coe si Johnny Paycheck.

Dupa mai multi ani petrecuti in Atlanta, au semnat un contract cu Atlantic Records, si au scos primul album “Confederate Railroad”, de pe care au avut 6 hit-uri si albumul a fot certicat “Platina” de doua ori in America.
De atunci au avut mai multe hit-uri la radio.
