Radio Flora TM More music, more variety
September 21 is a special occasion for fans of the band Earth, Wind & Fire thanks to their hit song “September.”
The 1978 classic celebrates the specific date in the song’s lyrics, though it was originally released on November 18 of that year as a new song on the album “The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1.”
An upbeat disco track, the song has remained a firm favorite since it was first released thanks to its catchy melody and timeless lyrics.
To mark the anniversary, fans of the band even hold “21st night in September” parties across the globe every year.
“September” was co-written by Allee Willis alongside band members Maurice White and Al McKay.
“September” is a melancholy song about a love born in this month. The band remembers those magic moments when the protagonists danced together in the night, and “their soul was ringing.”
Although many people hear the first words in the chorus as “Party On,” it’s really “Bada-Ya.” Allee Willis explained in her Songfacts interview: “I absolutely could not deal with lyrics that were nonsensical, or lines that weren’t complete sentences. And I’m exceedingly happy that I lost that attitude. I went, ‘You cannot leave bada-ya in the chorus, that has to mean something.’ Maurice said, ‘No, that feels great. That’s what people are going to remember. We’re leaving it.’ We did try other stuff, and it always sounded clunky – thank God.”
“September” – single de pe albumul The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1 (1978), înregistrată în timpul sesiunii pentru albumul I Am. A fost #1 în topul de R&B and #8 la Billboard Hot 100. În UK a ajuns pe poziția #3.
În fiecare an în luna Septembrie această piesă are o creștere la vânzările digitale și la streaming.
Versuri:
‘Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away
Ba de ya, say do you remember
Ba de ya, dancing in September
Ba de ya, never was a cloudy day
Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya de ya
