“7 Summers” – Single by Morgan Wallen from the album Dangerous: The Double Album, released on August 14, 2020.
The singer originally tested the song out by sharing the first verse and chorus on social media. It quickly became a fan favorite and also gained traction on the TikTok app. Noting the enthusiastic response to the song, Wallen officially released it as a single on August 14, 2020.
Wallen wrote the song with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. It’s his first collaboration with both Nashville hitmakers.
The song debuted at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the second Top 10 debut ever for a song by a solo male country artist, following Garth Brooks’ “Lost In You” in 1999.
“7 Summers” debuted at #1 on the Country chart, becoming Wallen’s second song to reach the summit, after “Whiskey Glasses.”
Directed by Justin Clough and shot in Nashville, the eight-minute cinematic music video depicts the song’s wistful tale of lost love.
Wallen portrays a pitcher on his hometown high school baseball team who’s feuding with his father about their different ideas of what his future looks like. He feels his dad’s dream of him becoming a baseball star is being foisted on him when he wants to remain in his small hometown with the denim-clad girl he loves.

Lyrics:
Yeah, you used to talk about
Getting even further South
Somewhere where the summer lasted all year ’round
Probably got a big ol’ diamond on your hand right now
Maybe a baby or a couple by now
Long driveway to a big white house
[Chorus]
But I wonder when you’re drinking if you
Find yourself thinking about
That boy from East Tennessee
And I know we both knew better
But we still said forever
And that was seven summers
Of Coke and Southern Comfort
Were we dumb or just younger, who knows?
Back then, you used to love the river
And sippin’ on a sixer with me
Does it ever make you sad to know
That was seven summers ago?
