Duke worked with other musicians, particularly Frank Zappa and also appeared on Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall album. He died on August 5, 2013 aged 67.

Soul singer Ruth Brown is born in Portsmouth, Virginia. Known for her huge voice, Brown is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

Ray Price is born in Peach, Texas. Nicknamed the “Cherokee Cowboy,” he is instrumental in the growth of the country shuffle and the use of recorded strings. His legacy includes “Crazy Arms,” “For The Good Times,” “I’ve Got A New Heartache” and a plaque in the Country Music Hall of Fame Price died on 16th Dec 2013 aged 87 at his ranch outside Mount Pleasant, Texas.
