“Rainy Days And Mondays”  was composed by Paul Williams with Roger Nichols. The song has been initially offered to the 5th Dimension, and they passed on it. The Carpenters record the song for their 3rd album self-title, and has been released as a single in April-May 1971.

The single  climbed to No.2 on the Hot 100 and also topped the Adult Contemporary chart, their fourth in succession.
