“Lonely This Christmas” has been release by Mud in 1974 as single, with Side-B “I Can’t Stand It”.

Mud were at No.1 on the UK singles chart in December 1974, spending four weeks at the top. The was group’s second No.1 and third chart topper for Chinn & Chapman in 1974.

Top of the Pop video is from the November 23, 1974. At the conclusion of the song, vocalist Les Gray turned to the camera and solemnly said, ‘Merry Christmas darling wherever you are.”
