Radio Flora TM More music, more variety
“Don’t Play Your Rock ‘n’ Roll to Me” is a song by British rock band Smokie. It was released in early September 1975 as a single and appeared later on the album Changing All the Time.
It debuted in the UK Singles Chart on 4 October 1975, reaching #8 and lingering in the charts for 7 weeks.
Early pressings of the album had been made with the original band’s name “Smokey”, but in November 1975 it was announced that the name would be altered to “Smokie” in order to avoid confusion with soul legend Smokey Robinson. All later copies of the album would bear the changed spelling
As most of the Smokie hits, this was composed by Nicky Chinn and Michael Chapman.
